Perfect Harmony Chorus is Madison’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and ally TTBB chorus. Our organization provides LGBTQ+ singers of any gender or expression with opportunities for the performance of choral music in a supportive and affirming environment. Through music we enrich the lives of our members, the LGBTQ+ community, and the Southern Wisconsin community.
PHC presents two annual concerts, and two fundraisers in the form of a cabaret-style show, and a fall dinner. In addition to these programs, we perform at various events throughout the Greater Madison area.
Perfect Harmony Chorus is a registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization and your donation is tax-deductible to the extent which the law provides.
A Brief History:
July 17, 1997 saw 10 brave men performing their first concert. Since then, Perfect Harmony Chorus has grown and performed music as diverse as its members, with concerts combining a mixture of classical, contemporary, popular, sacred, and Broadway music.
To mark our 10th, 15th and 20th Anniversaries we celebrated by commissioning several new choral works. This included the full length song cycle, "Heartlands," which was composed by former member Arthur Durkee and drew inspiration from the lives of our own chorus members. In 2019 we were proud to be among the co-commissioning choruses, led by New York City Gay Men's Chorus and the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles, of "Quiet No More: A Choral Celebration of Stonewall," marking the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Uprisings.
In 2019, PHC members and Board of Directors voted to open Perfect Harmony's singing member to ALL singers with tenor, baritone, or bass (TTBB) vocal ranges, regardless of gender, gender expression, or sexuality.
We celebrated our 25th Anniversary in December of 2022 with a large scale celebration of music, inviting back all previous singers and Artistic Directors, as well as our sibling chorus Our Voice Milwaukee, to participate in the performance.
Most recently in July 2024, PHC members once again joined together with members of Our Voice Milwaukee to represent the state of Wisconsin at the international GALA Festival in Minneapolis, MN. More than 7,000 LGBTQIA+ singers from around the world came together for 5 days of music, camaraderie, and celebration!
