Annual Report 2016-2017

Musically Speaking

What an exciting start to our twenty-first season! If you were not able to join us for the fall fundraiser, it was a wonderful evening of quality choral music, intimate fellowship and delicious food! Perfect Harmony continues to grow in sound and numbers to positively impact the community through its values and music.

In case you have not met me yet, I am the new permanent Artistic Director of Perfect Harmony Men's Chorus. I am extremely honored and excited to continue in this position after my year as interim Artistic Director. The ensemble continues to have a new and impressive sound, as we emphasize our work on blend and timbre. I am also an elementary music teacher with the Madison Metropolitan School District. This is my seventh year teaching overall, and my third year at Falk Elementary on the west side of Madison. Aside from PHMC, my background includes performances with a variety of university and community choirs in both Wisconsin and Iowa. Additionally, I have toured and performed with choirs throughout Wisconsin, Iowa, Germany and the Czech Republic. I received a Bachelor of Science in Music Education, with emphases in Choral and General Music Education, from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. And finally, I am also an alumni brother of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, a national men's music fraternity.

On a much more personal note, I am lucky to be spending my life with my beautiful wife, Holly. She continues to amaze me with her passion and adventure in life and her work in the medical field. We have rescued two amazing dogs, Buster Brown and Hunter, and a three-legged turtle, Tripod. I cannot express how humbled I am to be able to have such a wonderful family and serve the community through my work in music with musicians and learners of all ages and walks of life.

Our singers have been busy singing a wide variety of performances. In October we have had three performances to have an invigorating start to our new season. We have sung at the Outreach Banquet at Monona Terrace, the fall fundraiser at Bunky's Catering, and participated in the It Gets Better Project; which was performed at UW-Whitewater. And of course, we are working hard to prepare for this year's winter concert, A Winter Evening. We are excited to continue creating, enriching and transforming community through music!
