Watertown Concert - a Thank You
by Revs. Stephen Welch and Rob Harms - Members of First Congregational UCC, Watertown
The members and friends of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Watertown, Wisconsin were thrilled to host the wonderful concert presented by the Perfect Harmony Men's Chorus of Madison and the City of Festival Men's Chorus of Milwaukee on June 25, 2016 in our church sanctuary. Our church community feels so fortunate to be selected as the site of this joint concert and provide the opportunity for a combined performance prior to the GALA Festival in Denver.
The response to this concert has been outstanding. Our congregation is prayerfully thankful to be Open and Affirming in this community and we rejoice that this concert was so well attended by many people from the wider community. We received several VERY positive responses from our church members. The quality and the exuberance demonstrated in the concert will long be remembered. One church member asked when we could arrange for both the choruses to return. Another stated how proud she was that our congregation was chosen to host these choruses. Finally, one church member said that it would be a joy to be a member of such a chorus.
The members of the chorus were obviously having a great time!
Throughout the community, we have heard nothing but positive feedback from those who attended and those who wish they had. Personally, our pastor, Rev. Stephen Welch, regrets that he was out of town that evening and hopes that the choruses would schedule another event that he could attend. Additionally, we are deeply grateful and thankful for the financial donation that the two choruses made to the local high school gay/straight alliance. You are an inspiration to so many!
We thank you again for a great evening of entertainment, and wish you continued success in providing joy to your audiences.
